Renovations Diary

21st August 2020

So much has progressed with The Coach House this week; it’s hard to know where to begin. However, a good place to start is that the scaffold is down! The team worked hard in the rain midweek to peel away the steel layers and unveil the beautiful work that has been happening over the last couple of months.

The upstairs room has had windows and door panels fitted along with skirting and sills, ready for painting at the end of this week. Plasterboard has gone up on the ceiling and back wall downstairs, ready for plastering over the weekend.

Meanwhile, more tweaking of light fixtures and repointing of bricks continues along with skilful artistry to the lead work on the front bressummer beam. We are awaiting the arrival of our big double doors that were sent away for pampering, and soon the building’s copper earrings (lanterns) will go on!

Work continues on the ground floor; watch for the floor being replaced! And stop press: just as publishing this page, we received a photo of the new lighting.
