Quiz Night attracted brand new teams and players experiencing Quiz Lord Martin’s brainteasers for the first time, and it was great to see some of them up there at the top! In a nail-biting tie break finish, the wonderfully (and as it turned out, appropriately!) named Benji Ate My Nail File beat old hands Desperados to the £25 bar tab prize. And raffle winner Matthew Waddington picked a glass of wine as his prize, exactly as his dad had at the previous quiz on the 13th!
The evening was bittersweet, though, as Louise and Ian served their last plates from the Quiz Night Menu at The Swan pass. Over the past 18 months or so they have given their time and skill for free as volunteers, keeping quiz goers’ brain cells energised and raising over £6,000 for the Renovation Fund in the process. Thank you both for your hard work and unstinting commitment to your community pub. Thanks also to Anne, Dawn, Bridget, Helen, Trudy, Peter and all Friends of The Swan who have helped with sou chef-ing, serving, clearing and the dreaded washing up, all as unpaid volunteers.
