When it was anticipated that Southern England would be able to witness its first partial eclipse of the Moon since 1999, the Swan marked the occasion by holding a small viewing party for the local community. Armed with a supply of special eclipse glasses, generously donated by Martin Payne, those gathering in the courtyard for an early summer’s evening pint were able to watch this rarely seen phenomenon from there and from the roundabout at the end of Mill Lane.
It was one of those historic moments that brought the local community together – and one we will all remember for a very long time!
